Vizcaya by Bay; Mangroves; and Biscayne Bay

It takes about 20 minutes to get to Vizcaya-and it’s worth every stroke. The castle is beautiful and the mangroves are like visiting the Everglades (without the mosquitoes). Great wildlife viewing. Yesterday saw mullets feeding and a variety of birds.

Thanks to all the volunteers that kayaked to Vizcaya with us today. Biscayne Bay was perfect! We saw mullets feeding as we removed over a dozen large trash bags of debris from the mangroves. Next clean-up is in September as part of the Dade Coastal Clean-Up. Stay tuned!

Volunteers–come out for a morning of fun. We provide the kayaks and off to Vizcaya we go.  We’ll remove debris from the mangroves (leave the bags behind) and be back by 11:00.  Some seats are still available.

    We are located at Mile Marker 6.5 on Rickenbacker Causeway

    Coming South from Ft. Lauderdale:

    Take I-95 South to Exit #1A (Key Biscayne). Follow the natural flow of traffic forward and to the left, to the toll plaza . Travel 7/10 of a mile staying to the right of the tall bridge. Turn right into parking lot. We are along the beach at mile marker 6.5.

    Coming North from the Keys/Grove/Gable:

    Take US1 North. At the I-95/US1, bear right. Follow sign to the Rickenbacker Causeway. Follow the natural flow of traffic to the toll plaza (SW 26th Road). Travel 7/10 of a mile staying to the right of the tall bridge. Turn right into parking lot. We are along the beach at mile marker 6.5.
